Award-winning paint journeys through a world-class process. A smooth paint finish, perfect panel alignment, and tight gaps are the byproduct benefits of show quality paint and bodywork process. City Classic Cars stocks premium top-of-the-line PPG DBC in its mixing system as its house line of paint. For special projects, Sabra has created a signature line of high-end vibrant paint finishes for more one-of-a-kind finishes. Sabra has a proven award-winning process and he will never cheat that process. We strive for a 95%-100% percentile of greatness. Admittedly, the projects in this category are over restored in the eyes of many.

Award-Winning Classic and Vintage Show Paint vs Daily Driver Paint and Body

Once Sheet metal is complete on high-end projects, we spend an additional 8-12 weeks sculpting and preparing the classic body for the actual coloring process. On a daily driver, this time may drop to as low as 2-6 weeks. Blocking is one of the most expensive and time-consuming processes. On show cars, we block until it is 100% perfect whereas on show and go projects we block to a 90-95% standard and on daily drivers we block a maximum of 3 times in body and 1 additional time in paint. Once the body is complete, we work to produce a ready to spray foundation through more sanding and chemically cleaning the bare metal surface to remove grease and contaminants. Great paint goes through a great paint process. Once all this is complete, the team at City Classic Cars applies a high quality ppg polyester primer, block sand the body, apply an acrylic primer, and then disassemble the body panels to work on the firewall and door jambs and other fine tuning areas. On daily driver projects and scuff and shoots, we may paint project as one whole unit and/or omit some of the finer details. The key is finding and determining your right path forward. Painting the body panels takes another 2-4 weeks. Then we spend another 100+ hours on post paint work of color sanding and buffing the paint. Yet still, the project has to be reassembled and professionally detailed for delivery. The team of City Classic Car paint and body experts can help you find the right strategy for your project.
